The Girl

Jomomma as the “Thinker”, a full grown adult who goes around incessantly with her hand to her face…as if perplexed. Actually, she is curious and full of wonder…there are “flytes of fancy” everywhere she wanders!

When I created my blog “Jomommasfancyflytes” I found that I gave my voice over to the author of the blog, Jomomma.  This name is one given to me by my whimisical if not hysterical children. I have had many nicknames in my life and this one has stuck the longest…so here we are now with Jomomma.

Within the context of this blog is a whole section devoted to “It’s a Christmas Miracle!”. While writing this fun section of the blog, Jomomma loans her “voice” to Olaf, the magical nutcracker, who loses and then regains his voice in the span of the first episode of the Christmas Miracle. Within that first installment, Olaf finds insight into what it means to have a voice and to lose it…and in his case he learns to listen. Once the gift of voice is returned, Olaf generously loans it to Miranda…the longtime angel Christmas Tree Topper.  Over the following six years (four installments) these two voices explore the psyche of Jomomma and the true meaning of a Christmas Miracle.   What I learned through Jomomma, Olaf and Miranda is that we all have stories to tell…we just need to find our voice. With this in mind I tasked Jomomma to again loan out her voice in order to bring to life more characters. AND “The Girl” is born.

The new storyteller, “The Girl (Jomomma as a child)”, will take us all on an adventure to meet and get to know some of the fantastic strong women she knew growing up.  She will give her impressions, share her memories, and then give her voice to the women themselves. She is looking at these characters from her perspective of Jomomma from her early elementary days through 9th grade. This backward introspection shows that she harbors a slightly skewered vision of these women; and she has forced herself to round out the characters with imagination and generosity. She finds that as a person in her seventies, she is able to fill in the blanks and portray these women with the wisdom and grace that only comes with age.

Check out Estelle, Charlotte, Jodie and Dolly to start with. More to come!

Enjoy the journey and help Jomomma celebrate the great women that “The Girl” has brought to life!
